Review: St. Petersburg hotel, Tallinn Old Town

  • Follow Me on Pinterest

St. Petersburg 4 star hotel is located on Rataskaevu 7 just one minute from Old Town Square and next to Cat’s draw well where as legend says lived mermaid and where people on a regular basis threw cats as a gift to that mermaid. Something tells me cats did not like it.

St Petersburg hotel Tallinn is a small and comfortable with not more than 30 rooms in total on 3 floors. Hotel does not have an elevator and for people with disabilities it is advised to book rooms on the first floor. On the 4th floor under the roof is sauna where you can also have a massage. For those who stay at the hotel sauna is free until 11 in the morning.

!

Tip: Sometimes, during the peak season the relax room in front of the sauna room becomes a bedroom and the sauna becomes Sauna Suite.

First floor is where reception is located (no way!). Administration on this hotel is very friendly and ready to help you with any question. In case you want to save some money do not ask for a taxi at the reception desk as they work with one of the most expensive (but reliable) companies – Tallink takso.

For better rates and advice on taxi in Tallinn check this article.

In case you have forgotten to get Tallinn souvenirs worry no more – at the hotel you can get quite nice magnets (5 EUR each), postcards and couturier made out of metal and stone my Estonian designers.

On the first floor you will also find Russian restaurant Nevskij, where breakfast is served for the guests of the hotel. Breakfast works in such a way that cold snacks and drinks – self service when hot breakfast is ordered from servers. Breakfast includes: tea, coffee, juice, yogurts and some more for drinks. For cold meals you can expect salmon, ham, cheese, cornflakes, fruits and veggies.

!

Tip: The number of hot meals during breakfast is not limited. Most guests think they can choose only one out of the list but you can get as many as you want.

Restaurant itself is small and very comfortable; menu is all about Russian cuisine. In Nevskij you will find friendly parrot named Misha.

Rooms on the hotel are clean, nice, and comfy but at the same time very simple. In bathroom you can expect shower or bathtub (depending on the room), TV with DVD, mini-bar (everything except water is an additional cost), safe, hairdryer, towels. You also get all the bathroom appliances.

Price range is from 80+ EUR and up (if you get lucky you can get a room for 70 EUR as a special offer during off-season). Usual price during peak season is 120 EUR and up.

With such location as St Petersburg hotel has which is right in the center of the Old Town, less than a minute walk from the main square price of 100 EUR is OK for everything you get.
